Prayer of Father Kathryn

By Kathryn Sharma

Spirit, make me an instrument of change.
Where there is androcentrism, let me sow feminism;
where there is feminism, let me highlight intersectionality;
where there is menstrual shame; cliteracy; where there is self-objectification,
empowerment; where there is symbolic annihilation, visible representation,
and where there is gender variance, acceptance.
O Great Spirit, grant that I may not so much seek to be submissive, as to be strong;
to judge other women, as to stand by them; to hold myself to unattainable beauty
ideals,
as to flex my consumer power.
For it is in educating ourselves that we can change our thinking;
it is in making informed choices, that we can end our cycles of poverty and violence,
it is in taking back our power, that we can make the world a better place for our
children.
