What I’ll Say The Next Time Someone Asks Me What Ethnicity I Am

I’ll say I’m a mixed girl, and this is what that means:

A mixed girl is the store clerk thinking that I am not my mother’s daughter;
A mixed girl is realizing I’m not white;
A mixed girl is Irish, English, German, Chinese, Lebanese brown.

A mixed girl is America;
A mixed girl is California;
A mixed girl is Washington green.

A mixed girl is my tai-poa saying the hospital food tastes like shit;
A mixed girl is winter tan;
A mixed girl is whatever color you want her to be.

I’ll say I’m a mixed girl, and I am tired of everybody asking.
