Water

Always alluring to hear the sounds you make.
Wondrous to see the many forms you take.
Terrifying to know how slowly you could drown me out.
Wondering where you’ve gone whenever there’s a drought.
Your very touch cleanses me as you glide across my skin,
and into you I plunge deep when I fall or dive in.
Thinning and cooling my blood as you course throughout my veins.
Too long without you, and my body goes insane.
I gaze into you sometimes, and it’s myself I see,
staring back, and I know then this is chemistry.
There is no substitute.
You’re all I want to consume.
Too many days without you,
would surely bring me doom.
