Sit

By Grace Lynn Scott

Sit
in silence,
the air is still,
Sit.

Absorb the silence,
feel the stillness.
Your breath,
the only sound.
Your lungs,
the only movement.

Sit,
sit in silence
the air is still.
Sit.

Do you hear that?
No
maybe.
A whisper,
it’s faint,
no words
just whispers.

The trees in the distance
they wave to you,
faintly.
Wave a whisper.

Sit.
Hear the whispers,
feel the stillness
moving.
Sit.

Do you smell that?
Smell the whispers.
They smell of pine,
cedar,
The Sound,
they smell of home.

Sit.
Feel the whispers
smell them,
absorb them.
Sit.
