Parker Dean Smith
Ode to Glaucus atlanticus
Or
A lyrical styling for a very poisonous sea slug
They call you the blue dragon
They point to your sharp teeth
Your poisonous sting. An inch long,
Your bite is far worse than your bark
They say you swim upside down
The coloration on your little blue body
Protects you from things that
Love to eat little blue dragons
But who are we to decide
What upside down means
We have looked at you
And called your back your front
And your whole life you believed
You were right side up
